This is a very short and sharp set. Every tune here (of which there are ten) has been honed to a fine point, so that the lyrics are crisp and the melodies shine. And there are lots of nice fat bass lines, which add a much-needed layer of musical fat to proceedings and bounce things along nicely. It means there is a gel between the songs, which cements the set together nicely. Just like early R.E.M., the vocals are hidden deep in the mix, almost whispered, so as to entice you in. And there are some real treats waiting for you when you get there. And yes, there are some songs which could do with a bit more depth but, on the whole, this is a very good set which will, at least at some points, brighten up your day, simply by being on in the background.
