Ploughing a kind of timeless furrow, the Edinburgh trio’s post-rock-punk stylings have never gone out of fashion.
Truth be told, they’ve never been in fashion either, the line in abrasive guitars too much for the delicate ears of daytime radio.
Probably regarding Pixies as a bit too ‘pop’, instead their guitars are abrasive and shredding, particularly on ‘Hot Tub’ – closest touchstones being perhaps Future of the Left, or their own contemporaries Fat Goth.
Although, there’s always method in the madness; a hook here, a chorus there, plus a call to “Sh-sh-sh-sh-shake it” on ‘Glass Eyed Reptiles’. Sweat’ even hints at a full-on pop song. Watch it guys, you’re going soft…
