“If you like The Charlatans and The Stone Roses (and let’s face it who didn’t?) you are going to love The Spectors!” These words, screaming out from the band’s press release for debut single ‘There She Goes’, will either endear you to this band or turn you off completely.
The single is nothing exceptional, and certainly nothing in comparison with The Las’ song of the same name, but it is a throwback to nineties Britpop and worth a listen for that reason alone.
This is music made by a band who wears their love of that era on their sleeves, and for that they deserve some credit – that and the fact that they had the sense to change their name from ‘Alan’ to ‘The Spectors.’ Well done, lads.
