From the very first note of ‘You Won’t Feel A Thing’ The Script set the tone for the night with a unique entrance.
Performing on a B-stage at the back of the room, frontman Danny O’Donoghue makes his way through the ecstatic crowd, starting the energy that carries through the show.
As the night unfolds, it feels like the phone rings — and mystery is calling. The Script constantly surprise, whether it’s the unexpected intimacy of their B-stage performances or the emotional weight of their heartfelt ballads.
Confetti cannons erupt during ‘Rain’, followed by the band’s return to the main stage. Danny, ever the showman, moves through the crowd, inviting fans to sing along as he goes. The stage itself is a spectacle, with massive screens forming a dynamic backdrop. Bars of light flow down, creating a visual experience that perfectly complements the band’s hits.
‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’ stands out as a highlight, with the entire venue joining in a powerful singalong. The Hydro is in full voice, not for the first or last time of the evening.
Another brilliant moment comes in ‘At Your Feet’, when a large screen descends, displaying visuals along with the other screens showing a stained-glass effect of church windows.
Danny takes a moment to address the crowd, offering heartfelt thanks for their support in what has been a challenging year for the band following the passing of guitarist Mark Sheehan. A moving rendition of ‘If You Could See Me Now’ is dedicated not only to Mark but to everyone who has experienced loss, leaving many in the crowd visibly moved.
Returning to the B-stage, the band once again bridge the gap between performer and audience with ‘Never Seen Anything Quite Like You’, ‘Before the Worst’, and ‘Nothing’. Drummer Glen Power shares an inspiring story about how ‘Before the Worst” landed them their initial record deal, a reminder of how far the band have come.
‘For The First Time’ is another standout, showcasing The Script’s impressive catalogue of hits, each one lifting the crowd higher. The show closes with ‘Breakeven’ and ‘Hall of Fame’, sending fans home on a high.
The Script’s ability to connect with their audience, both emotionally and energetically, makes this an evening to remember. Glasgow’s love for them is another level, and the band return that affection tenfold.
