These guys quite clearly have an all-enduring love of the concept of the three-minute pop song. Everything on this disc, the title track included, is very tight and in a hurry. This means one’s ears are kept clipped and to the point. It makes for a refreshing change. There’s a cocky, brash, arrogant confidence here that shines through in every note. It’s so exciting to hear a band so new and yet, so sure of their own abilities. It makes for a nice change from all those run-of-the mill balladeers and popstar wannabees that clog up the charts these days. Not since the early days of Oasis or The Stone Roses have a band emerged so clearly out for a good time all the time. It makes for wonderful listening. When a band is this good and this uninhibited on plastic, you just know they’ll be good on the live stage. This single is a precursor to their (apparently) limited edition and (definitely) eight-track long player, out in February and named A Balloon Called Moaning. Once again, the short, sharp aesthetic strikes gold here. If the other 7 tracks are this good, they’re on to a winner.
