‘PS205’ opening is perhaps the top track on here a meandering piece of post rock conjuring up shimmering visions of Spacemen 3 in a desert somewhere. Moving on from this it’s more conventional 4/4 songwriting laying down beats and generating a feel via some ingenious mixing and layered guitars.’The 17’ with its insistent guitar lines pick out what might be an otherwise bland vocal tune while ‘SiamoSoli’ chugs away with distorted guitar, perhaps closest to Bob Mould in solo mode. It seems that Brian Graham is a one-band band and while his songwriting is a decent enough level it’s the clever production and instrumental tracks like ‘Cremation of Film’ and the sweepingly claustrophobic semi-instrumental ‘This Year Has Been Cold’ that makes this record rise above the ordinary.
