With a solid debut single, an artist can set their stall out early and pique interest for their debut album. With his first release, Telen Rodwell does just that. By matching superb pop production with rhythmic acoustic guitar and a very listenable vocal, this stab at chart stardom might just be a success.
Of course, that all depends on being heard by the right people who will then go on to play it to the nation, but Telen Rodwell has all the tools to get the attention he arguably deserves. The chorus lifts the song suitably, and there’s a real toe-tapping nature to the song that will get most pop fans moving.
It’s a very strong blend of acoustic guitar and vocal that many songer-songwriters would be proud up, embellished with a mix that matches it to the very top tier in terms of production. All in all, this is an upbeat treat for mainstream music fans.
Although this isn’t a full album review, I have also had the fortune to hear the full LP, and many of the good facets of this song are shared throughout that release too. Let’s hope this ear catching Australian is able to capitalise on this strong start to his career.
