Opener ‘2nd Transmission’ presents itself as something out of a sci-fi movie, with angelic harmonic vocals which sink into pulsed synths. Short and to the point, Sacre Noir’s opening track gentle glides their listeners into the album.
However, their following track ‘She Can’t Take It’ is somewhat clumsy. Minus the base synth it would be more than credible, with interesting vocals and an irresistible pace that has you hooked.
From the sound you hear in ‘2nd Transmission’ you would expect a band somewhat similar to Angels and Airwaves; however where they continue into an epic electronic mix, Sacre Noir take a different direction entirely into wonderfully experimental compositions of sounds. As a result they produce an array of curious tracks, distanced from the listener with subdued and slightly echoed vocals.
Sinking into Darkness pulls its strength from the sheer fact it’s different. Unusual instruments making unusual sounds unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. Albeit, it won’t be for everyone yet it is certainly worth a listen.
