This is a song as lean and mean as its cover shot. Itch glares out at you malevolently from the cover shot and the music jumps out of your iPod and kicks you in the stomach, just like all good debut singles should. This is no mere imitation by someone who idolises Eminem but ends up somewhere better, this is an adrenalized shot of pure three-minute power-pop.
This is the voice of the outside, screaming out over the battle ramparts, loud with laughter at life’s failures, but laughing with them, rousing them (and you, dear listener) into action. It’s one of those songs that will never leave your hi-fi/iPod/whatever for the whole summer. A master class, then, in social commentary and the usage of fine pop hooks.
