The first thing that strikes one about this band’s debut offering is how fast it is. You feel the band only had one chance to get everything right and have given it their all. There is real passion in the playing, which is a good thing because it makes for a very energetic and lively listen and it is a bad thing because more than one track sounds the same.
This may account for why things, overall, sound a bit samey. Yes, it’s good to have passion in your playing, but you need substance in there also, otherwise the effect is rather lost. That said, there is some very impressive and tight playing on display. This quartet speak of “a strong collective passion for punk rock”, something they seem to have been mainlining. This gives the whole set a nice live feeling and again reinforces the feeling it was all recorded in one or two takes – but remember for next time, boys – a bit more care and attention could mean you get a better end result.
