It’s both annoying and amazing when the first thing that strikes you about an album is just how damned noisy it is. After an opening ensemble of war machines and strafed silence, a very sharp and choppy guitar sound makes itself heard. The lyrics are even sharper and sparser, featuring words such as “war” and “pain”. This is not, therefore to be filed under easy listening. Hints of Henry Rollins and My Bloody Valentine come across at various points throughout the album’s thirty minutes, along with such heavy-weather concerns as the USA’s invasion of Israel. These guys’ message seems to be that, while we may not be able to do anything about it, that doesn’t mean we can’t be angry. Last Taboo… is a very sharp and direct-sounding album that really lets you feel its presence, with wasted guitar melodies and waves of crunchy feedback. They’ve got a message and they’re gonna broadcast it. This is a very self-sufficient release, performed, produced and released by the band on their own Saturate label. It’s six tracks of sonic violence.
