Dundee’s Be Charlotte latest single is a low-key breakup track, with acoustic guitar, a wee bit of echo, then joined by a bit of piano and some double-tracked backing vocals.
And that voice – delicate yet determined on this track, referencing “fake smiles” and deciding that “sun shines better without you in my life”…
It is very definitely a kiss-off, or even a piss off, to the unfortunate target, but still sounds sublime, slightly dreamy and infused with the sounds of summer, albeit through a jaded mirror.
Another artist whose career has been somewhat cut short by the dearth of live opportunities, hopefully BC’s rescheduled dates will go ahead in the autumn…
