Norwegians love their big ideas and concepts and so it is fitting that this comes from that part of the world; a concept album about diamonds and pearls. It is a cold surge of blues. It’s a straightforward album that hits you like a cold, hard punch to the cranium. This, clearly, is music that has been well thought about and carefully crafted, just like a diamond. It says also, in the accompanying press piece, these guys jammed and rehearsed before the concept of an album itself was even thought about. This has paid off massively, as every note is perfectly placed, every vowel perfectly pronounced and every sound allowed to resonate in its own little moment in the sun. They may have stolen their ideas from here, there and everywhere but, by the sounds of things as presented here, Jewels Of Crime have pulled off the perfect heist here.
