This is probably the most welcome comeback, or reanimation, of 2020 so far… a deliciously macabre, but trademark Strap track about revisiting past glories, or the desire to do so.
Accompanied by a ridiculously hilarious video comprised of old horror/’70s action clips, it has the electronic percussion beloved of so many past classics, some electro beats (and congas!) and some of Aidan’s most evocative lyrics for some time…
Very contemporary (“saw you in Tesco… in a mask…”) and some near the knuckle lines about old age “as our hair and teeth fell out, we did our best to be devoted”…
One of the Strap’s very best, out as a limited single (with a new B-side) in October on Rock Action – a new take on the old formula, and there is life in that old corpse yet…
