An emotional tribute to his mother, this debut album is a touching collection of folk and pop tunes, which could appropriately be called lullabies?
What it lacks in lyrical and vocal maturity is somehow made up for in strong songwriting and melodies. It does stagger a bit into what can only be called soft rock on occasions (see ‘Behind Me Now’) but is at its best when it sticks to tried and tested acoustic styles, and quite nicely produced to boot. Unsurprisingly when the album is left to its own devices on such instrumentals as ‘The Days Left To Come’ we get a sense of the inspiring circumstances and indeed surroundings of this Isle of Lewis musician.
