Melancholy and harmonic, folksy goodness with a touch of indie, is how I would best describe the debut album The Big, Black and the Blue from Swedish sisters First Aid Kit.
Although calming, beautifully sung music is not quite up my street, it’s undeniable that this pair can fairly hold a tune. I think that they would grab more of an audience with some more upbeat tracks, however if the feel good melodies is what you’re looking for, this album should be one of your first choices.
Track four ‘Waltz For Richard’ is strangely alluring, with perfect high notes and a sleepy quality, you cannot help but tap your toes and nod your head.
Equally impressive is track five ‘Heavy Storm’ which is probably the most upbeat track of the album.
