Rather than an ambient collection as per previous releases, this Transatlantic trio – who straddle timezones between Scotland and the US – have produced a fourth long-player much more focused on tunes.
Sole samples this time are some whispered French vocals, while the Gallic theme continues with a chiming cover of Stereolab’s ‘Jenny Ondioline’.
Germanic influences are also at play on ‘K New Fad’, its robotic almost Krautrock beat offset by shimmering guitars, which come to the fore on the distorted, post-rocking ‘Landing Gear’.
With dirty synthesizers, motorik rhythms and even prog rock hooks, this fine collection is anything but background music.
