New from Glasgow’s Rotations (out late April 2023), this track is a slight move away from their usual raucous, fast-rocking numbers into what could be described as their version of Tom Waits-esque junkyard cabaret.
A mid-tempo beat with shades possibly of marimba strikes up and it is a good while before the vocals kick in, wheezing along, with references to “the milk of human kindness running out” and a challenge to flat-earthers everywhere.
The song has a definite nocturnal atmosphere with references to darkness and a coming storm.
Dark, atmospheric and a great addition to The Rotations’ repertoire of black hearted musical takes.
For nighthawks (at the diner)…
