The Low Countries is a solo vehicle for Nigel Parrington, a songwriter who found ‘fame’ as a member of The High Ones (no, I’d never heard of them either, clearly NME and Melody Maker didn’t register them on their pop radar back in the day) according to the press release from his label. He further went on to be ‘big in Belgium’ before becoming disillusioned with the ‘scene’ there….. it’s all a bit rubbish sounding isn’t it? Let’s be honest here, Nigel Parrington has achieved next to nothing of note, a non-career in a band that no-one has heard of followed by ‘success’ in Europe’s dullest country. All the time I’ve been typing this his inoffensive, soft as a marshmallow, music has been dribbling out of iTunes like the thick, tedious gloop from a leaking tin containing beige paint.
I can’t go on.
