Unlike the Converse and drainpipe antics of many U.S bands, The Hold Steady embody the rock n roll spirit of an America concerned with gambling, boozing and roaring a 9-litre Trans Am down the highway whilst flicking the forks to the local Sheriff. ‘Chips Ahoy’ is the song to play if you ever get the chance to do so. One of the highlights from their 07 album ‘Boys & Girls In America’, it’s Hammond-pop class and certainly worth the penalty if the local sheriff catches up with you.
