This is quite a gem, a chattering, pulsating collection of mood pieces from some highly talented musicians – distinctive riffs backed with cut-up tapes, effects and bloody good live percussion, this album bridges the gap between chin-stroking jazz and the mainstream of say Radiohead or for that matter Coldcut.
There are some languid vocals, some trip hoppish shuffles but it manages not to be derivative I think by just being laid back, a live-ish, fresh sound.
I know it’s a cliche but this sounds like film music, soundtracks would benefit from this surely – think Barry Adamson’s lost golden arm. One to watch, if only for some collaboration possibilities which could go far.
