This is another release from the duo consisting of Lauren Gilmour and Audrey Tait, straight outta their Novasound Studios. They have been busy during lockdown but this feels like a more bitter, world-weary release than some previous ones, with some fairly jarring rap verses as well… somebody is due for a kicking on the title track anyway…
‘Undone’ is no more cheery, introspection on the couch and not great internal monologue…
The instrumentation is great, synths and electronic/physical percussion, very atmospheric…
‘Wake Up’ is doomy and actually recalls some tracks from Audrey’s previous band Hector Bizerk, weirdly… or not…
The last two tracks are really quite extreme, with ‘Grubby’ sounding very dark indeed… and ‘At the End of it All’ providing maybe some kind of respite from the gloom…
Not such an easy listen but very bold and impactful, covering new ground and all the better for it…
