When I first heard this song, even after only a few seconds, I was absolutely captivated. It was originally released back in August but could only be bought online. Now, thankfully, it’s been re-released so you can buy this record in selected independent shops, including Avalanche Records. In case you missed my last review of the single, here it is:
“The debut single from Glasgow’s The Felt Tips is a jangly, shimmeringly sparkling and utterly beautiful pop song, reminiscent of The Smiths at their very best, and I do not say that lightly. Vocalist Andrew Paterson’s lyrics combine gritty and witty, painful and playful, while Miguel Navarro’s guitar playing is as gorgeously sublime as anything you’re likely to hear. B-sides ‘Not Tonight’ and ‘Treat Me Gently’ are equally impressive, following the ‘sweet and sour’ theme of the lead track. Like Belle and Sebastian? Like The Smiths? You’ll love The Felt Tips. Buy this record. Now.”
So, it’s like I said. It’s brilliant – buy it!
