Irish, London-based artist Seamus has released material on Lost Map before, but not for a while.
This is certainly a glorious return – a kind of loping ballad which sounds like a cross between Tom Waits and some of Cathal Coughlan’s later stuff. The track frequently appears to be about to break down completely but staggers on bravely, referencing various random moments in some unnamed and possibly famous person’s life, or perhaps downfall.
Fogarty’s Irish-tinged talk/sing mocks – “papped coming outta the offy” but also caresses with words while all kinds of instrumentation crackles, farts, screams and warbles before finally fading into the distance like a neglected robot going AWOL.
As usual another triumph for Lost Map’s impeccable artistic taste and BM awaits more tracks from a forthcoming EP – lots of touring but no Scottish dates as it stands…
