A recent Fatcat signing, this is a Toronto based combo, and they really do rock. This may not be enough however, as the results are not always good, partly I think due to the sound quality. It was recorded in a home studio so despite the earbending guitar sounds, it’s all a bit tinny.
I think live, with a full band in tow, this guy could be pretty awesome, as the Americans say. There are some good ideas, some classic riffs and moves, some good song structures as well, but at the moment it’s not fully formed. Apparently the second album will feature “less distorted” songs, not sure if intentionally or not, certainly at the moment this album sounds like the Jesus and Mary Chain in a washing machine spin cycle – better luck next time (and it’s a terrible title to boot).
