Having spent a good time in the wilderness – perhaps from an unwillingness to, unlike The View, get their names in the public eye via famous fans like Pete Doherty – the Beat Club may have, finally succumbed to commercial realities.
On this single they’ve ripped up their blueprint sound of doomy, bass-heavy tunes and angular guitar lines, and instead opted for an almost country-eqsue tilt at (we assume) chart success.
Must confess that I preferred their earlier stuff, but the chorus is as infectious as ever. And anyway, if there was ever a band we should cut some slack it’s this lot.
