Nozzle are a Devon based trio, who describe their sound as “a hard-edged blend of anthemic rock and melodic British pop”. Unfortunately, I would describe their sound as a poor man’s Hurricane #1, combined with lyrics taken from a rhyming dictionary. In the aftermath of Oasis the British music scene was awash with bands sounding like this, and frankly Nozzle do nothing to improve upon the likes of the Noel Gallagher supported and widely ridiculed Heavy Stereo . Although the band are clearly able musicians, there is absolutely nothing new, different or exciting here. And when the dull, plodding music is coupled with lyrics such as “as the rhythm started thumping, I could feel my blood was pumping” from ‘Undeniable’, or the god-awful ‘Hands of God’ (with the line “so much blood was lost in the valley that had formed between them, only the Hands of God can build a bridge between them”) there is absolutely nothing to recommend about this record.
