Scottish-based Malka (aka former 6 Day Riot frontwoman Tamara Schlesinger) has a new album on the way, and from it comes this single, which starts with some off-kilter keyboard sounds.
Some skittery backbeats and further synth parps follow before the vocals then build into a glorious chorus.
The subject matter is, as alluded to by the title, motherhood and its responsibilities – Malka’s slightly whispered vocal narrates a solo struggle through adversity – “you did it all alone”…
Very catchy, potentially a pro-female anthem and with a great middle eight, it’s a great pop song that pretty much anyone can relate to, and bodes very well for the new album. Now some live shows please!
