What’s in a name? Well, there’s something of the Gael about this songwriter, who previously flirted with the mainstream in art-rock collective Found.
The song titles similarly offer clues to what lies within – opener ‘Fallen Stag’ is an evocative orchestral piece that sets the scene for an ambitious set far removed from the electronica of his old band.
The title track is downbeat yet epic, with lush string arrangements swelling to a crescendo, while ’The Misery Bell’, if not as maudlin as its name suggests, still offers an icy front evocative of the landscape it portrays.
In all, a collection that will surely make Lomond Campbell a name to remember.
