Little Redde is, we’re told us a hotly-tipped new Scottish act. Ok.
In fact, the band – led by Amy Anderson-Law – seem very intent on replicating the sound of Blondie, (even down to the around 50% of the singer’s accent, its provenance being more New York than New Lanark). The lead track doesn’t have the songwriting nous of Debs and pals of course – then again, who has? – but instead sees guitars chopping away, rather like we’re listening to an early demo rather than a highly-polished attempt at chart success. ‘Mr Hamilton’, the b-side I suppose, is a slow and reflective number which if anything recalls (inevitably, perhaps) another female-fronted act, the Cardigans. It’s actually a nice wee tune suggesting that Little Redde have some potential, and not just as a Blondie tribute act.
