Lauded by critics after his debut album dropped in March, James Blake releases this, his second single from his self-titled album. Listening to the album for the first time this will probably be identified as the most pivotal track. ‘The Wilhelm Scream’ manages to encapsulate the album’s disparity through the means of lyrics and sound. Blake croons, “I don’t know about my dreams, I don’t know about my dreaming anymore. All that I know is I’m falling, falling, falling, falling.” The aptitude of the erratic percussion, backed by the isolated keyboard and multi-layered vocals makes for one of the more magnificent tracks you’ll hear this year.
