And acts on London label Art Goes Pop are easy to spot. They‘ be Scottish (not sure why, but Popup, Low Miffs,Stinky Munchkins…). They will also make jumpy, punchy 3 -minute pop tunes with stop-start rhythms and wonky keyboards (and in this case, welcome use of the theremin, we’re sure). This lot are supporting Franz Ferdinand, and you can see why, you can hear the fringes swish and the skinny ties just about choking the singer as he yelps his way through XTC-inspired B-side ‘I Go’. They are also greatly appreciated by staff of the BBC in Glasgow, but again, that one is a bit of a mystery. To be fair, it might just be the tunes…
