Edinburgh’s premier progressive rockers release their second long player, this time on their own label, Backbone of British Haulage.
Musically speaking much of Future Home Now is an exciting clash of exuberant powerpop and progressive sensibilities. On many occasions the predictability that is a traditional weakness of many guitar bands is completely obliterated by a series of musical left turns that are as enjoyable as they are unexpected (and usually involve some sort of mad sound effects or kick arse guitar solos).
There’s a nostalgic quality to the production (notably the live tracking and analogue equipment used) that is particularly fitting. Icing on the proverbial cake comes in the form of one particularly impressive twelve minute epic. An album brimming with charm, personality and technical flair, Rockus Maximus!
