It has very suddenly got very impossible for anyone to play live in a public place, so enterprising musicians are taking things into their own hands, the first interesting one being Stina from Honeyblood, giving Carla J Easton a good slot last Friday night.
Things started off with Carla and Paul Kelly doing a fairly downbeat version of one of BM’s fave Carla songs ‘Lights In The Dark’ and Ette song ‘L.O.V.E.’ and it was great to hear Stina, Carla and Paul belting it out…
Song three may have been the new one Carla played at the Old Fruitmarket (with Stina on backing vocals and harmonies), then another new one called ‘Get Lost’, which sounded great… a slightly different direction to her previous stuff BM thinks….
And lastly they tampered a bit with a Big Star track, a bit holy to some (including BM, who could recognise the chords and melody from two miles away) but it was a great version of ‘Thirteen’…
If the next three months of gigs are to be via Livestream, this was a very good place to start.
