Glasgow-based artist Goliath’s latest musical offering is a heartfelt tribute to the late Scott Hutchinson.
It’s an uplifting track which starts with a brief excerpt of Scott saying from a stage somewhere “life may be good just now, but there’s a lot of hard times ahead, and you might as well figure it out”, then grinning as the audience laughs, a moment very characteristic of the man himself from what BM knows…
The musical style somewhat recalls Frabbits at their most harmonic, although BM isn’t sure if Goliath played everything on this or used other musicians as well – whatever happened, the music does somehow pay tribute without aping the trademark Frabbits sound. “Your words are granite…” is a great line – there’s also a yearning quality about the vocal, which uses some of Scott’s initial words in the chorus to ironic and darkly twisted effect.
It ends with the refrain “better times are coming now”, repeated until the noise dies down.
