Somewhere, this must have seemed like a good idea. Put the front man of one of the greatest American bands of the eighties and nineties with the producer who has helped define a major part of the sound of the last decade. However, the problem is that whilst these men have both created genre and generation defining music, this is the aural equivalent of chocolate and salmon mouse.
Most albums I get sent I try to give a couple of listens to, in order to give them the benefit of the doubt. This was so hideous, I really can’t bear to. None of the songs grab you, and the two partners really needed someone to sit them down and say ‘don’t release this.’ Apparently Pink Floyd’s The Wall was an influence on this album God knows how.
There are many albums that established artists have made that get shelved. This really should have been one of them. A completely wasted opportunity.
