After trying to keep up with 2019’s punishing schedule of one album per mont, BM thought Glasgow’s Boobs had gone to ground in 2020, but it turns out this is actually the third release of this year.
An EP of four long instrumental tracks which clocks in at around an hour, they continue to ply their strain of dark and weird music, and 2020 is all the better for it.
Starting with ‘Designer Disasters’, the Boobs plough through with distorted guitar and drums, organ and a fair dose of apocalyptic noise….
‘The Mocking Door’ is sparser and sounds a bit like ‘Pornography’-era Cure…
‘Now I Know How Nosrtradamus Feels’ is dubbier, and introduces some further odd sound effects into the mix.
Last track ‘Scorched Earth Petricor’ at first has no drums at all and is more like a sound piece… albeit a very scary one.
Not for the faint-hearted, the Boobs continue their highly singular recording career with some of the best stuff they have produced to date…
