Airspiel come in to land straight from the Simple Minds school of blustering, epic rock. They appear to have a loyal following; although originally from Ayr, the group are now based in Glasgow, and have been receiving moderate interest from the likes of Jim Gellatly and BBC music. They are hard-working self-promoters, but it’s their attempt to only write stadium anthems that hold them back. ‘Seventh Heaven’ is a calculated effort to encapsulate the qualities of their self-appointed sound-a-likes, but no matter how catchy the chords and how rousing the choruses become, it’s just too bland. There is nothing memorable about this record, other than, bizarrely, how utterly forgettable it is. If it’s U2’s massive sound they are after, it’s back to the drawing board I’m afraid.
