For many of us Karen O and her cohorts have been quiet for far too long, so this five track EP comes as a welcome shot of adrenaline to see us through to the next album, whenever that may come. Unfortunately they’ve only decided to release a single track from the EP to reviewers, which keeps it from earning the full five stars that it probably deserves, but on the strength of ‘Down Boy’ alone this more than adequately picks up from where ‘Gold Lion’ left off. It shows Ms O in an even courser, rawer light than before, her smoothly sultry vocals punctuated by animalistic yelps and (one can only assume) cries of pleasure. If the other four tracks are even half as good as this, then it’s an EP that you won’t want to miss. After all, five tracks from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are worth a million from anyone else.
