This Glasgow-based quartet go from strength to strength and this new single is upbeat, poppy and has the mid-90s summer bounce of Dodgy or The Boo Radleys at their most effervescent…although like the Boos, the lyrics are somewhat darker, referencing a relationship not exactly going all that well.
Is this their first release on LNFG – previous releases including 2018 debut album ‘A Talent For Being Unreasonable‘ being on Scottish Fiction.
Their usual guitars are augmented by some horns, slightly Motown, parping along, while the beats are funky and BM might also think they were channelling The Style Council…
There are several references to physical violence however, so the song is overall bittersweet, but catchy as hell and is a great leap forward for this very talented combo.
