First thing I think of when I get an album is, who does it remind me of?
In this case, it was Aztec Camera’s ‘High Land Hard Rain’. With a touch of Stray also, for good measure. It’s got the former’s charming naivety and the latter’s diversity and drive.
It’s ten songs over a tight thirty-three minutes. You’ll be sitting with your shoulders eased back, listening languidly to every note and maybe stopping Wojtek between songs occasionally, to offer him a cup of coffee. He’s got a cheeky sense of humour, as evidenced by songs such as ‘Kindness Doesn’t Cost’ and the title track.
There’s a real live-ness to the sound and you can almost imagine Wojtek chatting away to the audience, telling us the stories behind or even related to each song, really building a true connection with us.
