Leeds-based Whole Sky Monitor makes a strong impression with this three-track EP. Opener ‘Sold’ is a timely attack on the legacy of Margaret Thatcher and has a ferocious, urgent energy , with spiky guitars and a shout-along chorus. The tempo slows on ‘La Mouche’, a more mellow cut which shows the band are as adept at meandering psychedelics as they are straightforward punk. Final track ‘Church of Love In’ goes back to the driving power chords however, bringing to mind the likes of Wire and McLusky.
