When We Were Wolves describe their sound as being post-hardcore. They trample all over the self-indulgent kerranging riffs which hardcore favoured and replace them instead with chiselled riffs a la Dave Grohl or Brian May in their prime.
This is a sound ably complemented by lyrics, which are short, sharp, and to the point. It comes as no surprise to learn that these guys have spent the last eighteen months honing their sound on live stages across Europe. Despite all their sonic fireworks and histrionics, this, at heart, is music, which is eerie, atmospheric and emotive.
For every scream of rage, there’s a cry of sorrow hanging sadly and silently, somewhere in the background. These guys mean every single note and every one’s a stunner.
