For all Voo’s clever self acclaim, being “structuralists”, liking the vulgar main character from cult novel A Confederacy Of Dunces (a fat prick who disrespects his mother), support slots with top bands (Ravonettes, Blood Red Shoes, Bearsuit), this is pretty sensible sounding stuff. I’ve listened to it five times willing to find a glimmer of something that wee bit different. Alas, I have failed. So I’ll revert to those famous words uttered by musically bemused parents all over Britain: “It’s got a good beat to it.” Liverpool’s Voo talk the talk, but are walking with an all too visible limp. B-side’s a cracker though.
