Album covers say so much about an album housed inside them.
The cover shot here looks very like a Polaroid taken at a family party, sometime around 1980. It’s blurred and slightly out of focus, but it shows, very importantly, a group of people having a good time.
And that’s what you get the sound of. Another set of surely-refined tunes, played with vigour, commitment and enthusiasm. These are songs about growing up, songs of experience and near-maturity.
The lyrics are all short, the tunes are all sharp and they hit you with venom and swagger and show a much more refined approach to tunesmithery than was found on the debut.
