With a new album on the way home-grown rockers Twin Atlantic are putting in the air miles ahead of the release of their second album ‘Free’, which is due for release in May.
The first single to be taken from the new album is ‘Edit Me’. The track sees the band build on their sound, and this track could easily be the next stadium anthem in the making. The band are currently out at the scorching SXSW, pushing their music to unassuming ears and no doubt captivating new audiences whilst on the other side of the pond.
Here in the UK the band have racked up countless support slots with music giants such as: The Smashing Pumpkins, My Chemical Romance, Blink 182, Biffy Clyro and You Me At Six, to list a few. However, this year could see the band headlining bigger stages on their own terms if ‘Edit Me’ is an indication of the sound to come from the new album, ‘Free’.
‘Edit Me’ is arguably the most powerful rock effort Twin Atlantic have had to date with overpowering drums and soaring guitars and a rapturous chorus, it is sure to be on music playlists for a long to come.
Frontman, Sam McTrusty, gave his views on the new sound of Twin Atlantic,
“This is us getting back to what we do best and it is only made all the better that we have just finished recording our debut full-length album. We will be playing some new songs that define the new direction for us, and we can’t wait to let people hear what we have been working on.”
Follow up track and title track from the album, ‘Free’, is another outstanding song, which sees the band take a departure from their usual aesthetic in favour of a more laid-back sound but equally as epic in delivery. Opening with commanding and echoing piano chords, soothed by hushed vocals before erupting into stirring drums and jaggy guitar, building constantly and launching us full-throttle in to a 30 Seconds To Mars like sing-a-long chorus. This track is undeniably another stadium anthem that is sure to draw in new fans by the thousands. The band have crafted a sound beyond the efforts of ‘Vivarium’ which makes the new album ‘Free’ a rock effort to dramatically increase the profile of Twin Atlantic over 2011.
