‘Anti-folk’, what the hell is that!?! As far as I can tell it’s an acoustic song with lots of funny noises over the top but I might be wrong. Thomas Truax is ticking all the boxes for experimental madcap New Yorker with a tune to boot. This single sees him indulging with his home made musical creation, Sister Spinster whistling, bell ringing and clattering. The song itself reminds me of IRS era REM, all strummy and half white-man rap vocals about nonsense; “Ian was a friend that dressed like a penguin who hung around Wall Street trying to blend in”, Ok Thomas whatever you say. All in all though, it’s pretty sweet little tune that’s destined to be heard by not a very lot of people, sadly.
