This oddly-named combo comprise some musicians from various Scottish bands and this breezy slice of indie-rock is quite the thing… personnel are Anon Xenos, Niahm MacPhail, Angus Fernie and Elise Atkinson.
Starting with the abrupt ‘Jangled Up in Blue’, the EP has loud twanging and nice strumming… second track ’66’ is especially nice, some great country licks and great male/female duetting here, with references to industrial landscapes but via the West Coast of the USA, those Byrds references keep coming up… just beautiful music, and then some…
‘Adelina’ is another dark triumph, quite muscular in the playing and with understated female records – there are untold secrets here in the lyrics, not pleasant subjects and there may also be anger and resentment in the furious chorus lines.
Closer ‘Hardtack’ may be the most user-friendly track – catchy, but sarcastic and some great melodies.
Overall a great wee offering and some real sparks of creativity – recommended.
