This EP comes a year after The Voluntary Butler Scheme’s (AKA Rob Jones) debut album which was championed by the BBC and NME. Critics compared the album to bubble-gum pop, motown and all in between.
This EP is fresh, a sort of Indie-pop synthed-up mash a summer in a sound. The two instrumental tracks are electronica with a ribbon on top – keyboard, guitar synthesizer, quirky little sound effects – it’s all in there.
The two vocal tracks still have the simple, quirky lyrics critics of ‘At Breakfast, Dinner and Tea’ commended. ‘To The Height Of A Frisbee’ is particularly nice, with a bit less synth and more focus on the raw talent of Jones’ vocal.
The EP is a taster from the new album which will be released later in the year.
