This recent live performance sees the Fife-originated duo in fine form, ploughing through eleven tracks new and old, starting with the raucous ‘On The Table’…
With Jo D’Arc on vocals/guitar/bass and sister Nicky on drums they then launch into ‘Suck It Fake it’, a rumbustious collision of riot grrl and post-punk Slits-esque noise.
‘Concrete’ follows, with crunching guitar noise and shouty harmonies… while ‘I Think Not’ sizzles with indignation and rage. ‘Juliette’ fairly surges as well, while ‘Lampost Light’ is another garage banger…
‘Weird Me’ is a bit more introspective but still batters with attitude while ‘State of Affairs’ is more menacing and a warning against doing nothing in the face of bad things…
‘Selling Skin’ has lyrical barbs against sexual oppression while ‘Tory Cunts’ kind of speaks for itself!
Last track ‘Is This It?’ starts with a torrent of distortion and continues with a musical and verbal assault… hopefully it isn’t and hope to hear more from them soon – one of Scotland’s best bands in top form, well-recorded and just such a shame there are no opportunities for them to pummel audiences into submission this year…
